Square-Enix finally reveals their next project to be Star Ocean 5. The hype started with a mysterious START announcement, which turned out to be the official webpage for Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness. Alongside with the new website, Square-Enix and Tri-Ace released the game's first trailer and a set of screenshots and many agree that both beautiful and stunning. The Star Ocean franchise has long been regarded as one of the best game story Square-Enix and Tri-Ace have produced and having another title for the PS4 and PS3 is really exciting.
Star Ocean 5 is the fourth Playstation title with the first Star Ocean released on the "Famicom" platform. The game revolves on intergalactic travel, a number of diverse worlds and the adventures of a group of friends as they thwart the dangers that threatens their existence.
The official trailer reveals the chronology of previous Star Ocean titles, showing different characters in different scenarios.
DualShockers have done the liberty of posting the new screenshots of this new Square-Enix game and the images alone gives hint on what the game offers. One of these hints is the possible real-time world interaction during fights. As pointed out by DualShockers, the image below show NPCs interacting while a fight is in progress. This somehow show the interactive nature of the game's environment, which is different from battle sequences of previous Star Ocean titles.
In a Famitsu round-table talk as reported on Kotaku, Square-Enix producer Shuichi Kobayashi stated his continued desire to create another Star Ocean title.
"But I was in charge of marketing, so I kept hoping someone would do it, but...," Kobayashi continued on saying,. "So I decided I'd go ahead and start the project. I decided to give my life to Star Ocean and changed departments and became in charge of production."
According to Kobayashi, it was important for him to enlist the creative minds of Yoshiharu Gotanda and Hiroshi Ogawa of Tri-Ace who created Star Ocean, Star Ocean 2: The second story and Star Ocean 3: Till the end of time.
"I wanted to insert the essence of Star Ocean 3 heavily into Star Ocean 5," said Kobayashi.
The game is still under development and it is likely that Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness will be a 2016, PS4 and PS3 release.
