The "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise has a long and bright future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is seem to be destined to become a household favorite worldwide in the years to come.
It seems like Marvel has already predicted a successful future for the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise. According to reports, the studio, two days before the release of the film, announced that the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" was already in development and already has an official release date. Director Gunn mentions that he is excited about the upcoming film that will feature Star-Lord's journey in meeting his mysterious father. Peter may not actually meet his father in the upcoming film, but Gunn will most likely excite the audience by allowing Peter's character to get a close trail on his missing father.
"Guardians of the Galaxy 3" may still be years away but James Gunn is already contemplating a possible story for the third installment. He said that "I knew for a long time what the story of the second one was gonna [going] to be. And the third one!"
A trilogy seems to be under the "Guardians of the Galaxy" belt just like Marvel's Captain America and Thor franchise.
The film will be starting its production in February 2016 in Atlanta. The return of its original cast is expected for the upcoming film. Karen Gillan was recently confirmed to be reprising her role as Nebula in the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." She will join the rest of the stellar cast that include Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Zoe Aldana.
If the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" proves to be as stellar as its predecessor, the cast and crew of the film will definitely be looking forward for another or even more installments of the intergalactic film. The movie is scheduled to be released on cinemas on May 5, 2017.
