The Blacklist Episode 19 Spoiler: Search for Caul Endangers Team; Red Attacked Again?

In The Blacklist just before Easter, Red was shot by a sniper just as Liz handed him the Fulcrum. Although it is very improbable that he dies from the injury, Red's near death experience exposed our tough guy's well hid vulnerability.

The Blacklist Episode 19 entitled Leonard Caul sees Red pleads for Liz help to look for a man named, Nicholas Caul whom he claims to know secrets regarding the Fulcrum. Recall that in Episode 18, Tom reveals to Liz Red's dark past and after she confronted him about it, Red is headstrong as he admits that he as the one who hired Tom to "infiltrate" her life. Nonetheless, she remains determined to help Red and as his injury creates a void, she has no other choice but to step up. As Liz and the team finds this man as soon as possible before threats to Red's life resurface, teasers show Red holds a gun at his hospital bed and points it at someone. Who is determined to kill Red? Is Nicholas Caul out to kill Reddington before he exposes his secrets?

Moreover, teasers reveal that Cooper is in a terrible condition on episode 19 which spirals until the finale of the season. Series creator Jon Bokenkamp provides in an interview with TVLine, that staring with Leonard Caul episode, audience is subjected to a series of cliffhangers that takes audience off their seats.

"Those things that sometimes scare us in the writers' room are often the things that we find most exciting, and we try to surprise ourselves." he adds.

Many thinks that since there are few episodes yet for season 2, the upcoming Leonard Caul episode is pivotal in the series as it may help fans connect that dots and see how Red orchestrated everything. Is the shootout, the hospitalization all part Red's ploy?

Episode 19 airs on Thursday, April 23 at 9PM on NBC.
