China’s Xiaomi Mi 5 Poised to Enter Big International Markets; Will It Unseat Apple and Samsung in the Leader Boards?

Xiaomi Mi 5 will be challenging the dominance of Apple and Samsung in the mobile phone market of countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Russia, and Vietnam among others.

Currently Xiaomi has successfuly entered the markets of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and more recently India.

Xiaomi, tagged as the "Apple of Asia," is kicking off its bid for the leadership of the world smartphone industry with a recent celebration of its 5th year in the market.

Xiaomi commands a 100 million subscriber base across Asia, according to Global Operations Vice President Hugo Barra.

The company reportedly however does not want to restrict its subscriber base to just Asians, and its recent addition of a $1 Billion funding has boosted the company's worth to $45 Billion - giving more fuel to the speculations on how the boost will push Mi 5 to the international scene.

Xiaomi device launch events are now eagerly anticipated as much as Apple and Samsung launches.

Reports say that the December 2014 RedMi Note 4G launch in India successfully cleaned out the stocks in seconds.

The Mi 4 launch in February 2015 also had the stocks going out within seconds.

In fact, Xiaomi successfully set a Guinness World Record in April for the most number of phones sold on a single platform in 24 hours.

Guinness recorded more than 2.11 million units sold for a value of $432 million from a record 14.6 million site visitors who purchased not just phones but other Xiaomi devices.

In its official Twitter account Xiaomi has also reported its continued dominance as the largest phone vendor in its home market in China, grabbing 12.5 % market share in 2014.

The upcoming flagship phone of the company, Xiaomi Mi 5, might be priced at $325 in and around China, according to Digital Trends.

Xiaomi Mi 5's previously rumoured release date in January 2015 fizzled out and the new speculations have the new Mi 5 launch happening in June 2015 instead.
