GoPro Latest Updates: 2800 mAh battery, 60m Water Resistant Battery GoPro Hero 5 to Square Off with Cheap XiaoMi; Soon in Cars

By

Just been months, but Go Pro Hero 5 rumors is increasing, raging like a bull straight from Spain. Must be because we're talking here of an active crowd - a market that wants to get the best out of life. And fast.

There's no denying Go Pro Hero 4 has more than delivered with its stunning image quality and powerful new features. The more it has been soaked into the action the more popular it got. Last look it even got Microsoft executive Tony Bates as President and its founder Woodman the highest paid executive in the land; Toyota seem set to outfit its Tacoma with the popular action cam by 2016.

But GoPro may have to share some of its limelight as it may square off with a strong competitor in XiaoMi - a company bent on winning by putting all its bets on rock bottom pricing.

Undisputed Market Leader

Today, no other camera system has been equated with extreme sports more than GoPro - carving up ¾ of the US market today. If it was high-in-the-air action on a motorbike or a skydiving first GoPro was the go-to camera that captured it all.

And as expected, Hero 4 came out with a bang last September. It somehow eclipsed its popular predecessor Hero 3 HD camera which won an Emmy Award for Technology and Engineering in 2013.

Coming out in Black and Silver Editions, GoPro Hero 4 shone even when it maintained its 12mp CMOS and a f/2.8 fixed maximum aperture. Of course it helped a lot that new processor was embedded, one faster than the Hero 3.

And yet the GoPro Hero 5 may steal the thunder from Hero 4 giving the new iteration a needed head start.

GoPro Hero 5 Wish list Specs

We've rounded up the closest we can get to an official statement from Nick Woodman's California-based action camera company.

With the way its predecessor performed, it is expected that the Hero 5 will come roaring with 4K resolution at a rate of 60 fps, thanks to a powerful A10 chip, according to GospelHerald.

That is a great deal of improvement given that the Hero 4 only had 4K at 30 fps. This only means you can catch those action-packed adventure of yours even when your motorcycle is racing at a faster speed.

But here's more. Way more.

The Hero 5 will outdive the Hero 4 as it can resist water down up to 60 meters - a huge improvement from the Hero 4's 40 meters, reports TFJ.

And topping all this is an outstanding battery life - a must for avid thrill-seekers. GoPro's newest iteration will boast of 150% increase in juice from its predecessor with a 2800 mAh battery.

And then Some

Expect GoPros to flood your dashboards pretty soon as reportedly 2016 Toyota Tacoma will be armed with the action camera reports CustomToday.

But don't rejoice just yet.

If reports are true, the GoPro Hero 5 set to launch 4th quarter of this year will be facing stiff competition from XiaoMi which is expected to field a 16MP action camera that shoots 1080p video at 60fps.

The catch? The Chinese tech company's pricing its offering at $65.

Now with GoPro's future flagship taking a $400 to $500 price, it seems all the stunning features of GoPro Hero 5 will be tested.
