Getting high can wait no longer than ten minutes as rapper Snoop Dogg has just invested in a weed-delivery service that promises greens will be at your doorstep within minutes. The rapper's venture firm Casa Verde Capital participated in a $10 million funding round for Eaze, a fast-growing mobile app that works like Uber, but for marijuana.
Eaze, which allows users to get access to medical marijuana professionally, declined to confirm whether the rapper was backing the company. In a statement, founder and CEO Keith McCarty said that his biggest reward is when prestigious investors complete their due diligence and choose to invest in his company's vision. "It's quite humbling, actually," McCarty added. In point of fact, the former Yammer employee's company has already made 30,000 deliveries, and is now expanding its team by hiring 50 people in the next 50 days.
The company raised $1.5 million in November and became one of the first pot companies to get international investors. Presently, it is only operating in California, where medical marijuana is legal. But as more states legalize marijuana, the company is looking to expand its pot business.
Snoop Dogg Visits a Marijuana Shop in Renton
As a full time weed smoker, Snoop Dogg stopped by a retail marijuana shop set to open in Renton on Monday while he is in Seattle, Washington for a concert. The rapper said that it's important that people understand the rules of pot regulation.
"It's information that people need to know because people think they can just fly in to y'all state and do what they want to do and don't know what rules and regulations ... and that's what I want to let 'em know, that there's regulations and rules... it ain't just come and get high and leave," he said.
This pot-delivery service has its benefits too, isn't it? Cut some slack. It may be good for stoners to cut back on leaving the house. What do you think of Snoop Dogg's career break? Do you wish him to make bestselling rhymesmith again?
