If online surveys can count as credible news sources, then the biggest batch of details surrounding "Mass Effect 4" may have just been recently revealed. A Reddit user, going by the name "Benjamin stone," said he took a survey about the game which inadvertently revealed a mass of information.
A significant portion of the information shared by the Reddit user concerns the main plot of the game. According to the survey, he says the game will be taking place in the Helius Cluster, with the players taking on the role of a "Pathfinder," according to IGN. The player's role would then be to help create a new home for mankind.
The game's setting will also be far removed from the familiar universe which the game's previous installments were in, according to the survey. Along the way, players will also be tasked with collecting resources, fighting enemies, and doing all the things people need to do when they are in outer space. A lost civilization known as "Remnant" will also be a crucial element of the game, thanks to all the technology and information it possesses, according to games.on.net.
As for leaked gameplay elements, players will reportedly find themselves in a party composed of seven different members. Each member will have their own unique powers and skills, and these can also be combined to great effect. Players will also be given the opportunity to recruit and then train AI mercenaries who they can then use however they may see fit.
All of these details are unofficial, and BioWare has not offered any comment on the matter, but the developer's recent history is perhaps the biggest reason why people are paying so much attention to the supposedly leaked information.
According to Bleeding Cool, a similar sort of incident involving a supposedly unofficial survey was also suspected of leaking details for "Dragon Age: Inquisition," a game which also came from BioWare. As it turns out, the details found in the supposedly unofficial survey for "Dragon Age: Inquisition" were actually pretty spot-on once the game was finally released.
It remains to be seen if history will repeat itself for "Mass Effect 4."
