"The Dark Tower" series is ready to conquer cinemas and the television screens. A script for movie production is now available under Sony Pictures and a TV series is already being developed by MRC. Stephen King's "magnus opus" will bring its followers to a world intertwined with magic and fantasy. The series' hero Roland Deschain is now ready to have a face as he bring viewers to his journey to the mystical Dark Tower.
The movie adaptation was initially rumored to be under Warner Brother's wings, but after dropping out of the project, Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series is ready to be embraced by Sony Pictures. Sony and Media Rights Capital are ready to turn King's book not only into a movie but into a TV series as well. MRC is already working on the creative development of the book series.
On the other hand, a script, a new one written by Goldsman and Jeff Pinker is now available for film direction. The movie will be focusing on the series' first book, "The Gunslinger." Numerous actors are already being linked to the lead role of Roland Deschain. Javier Bardem and Russell Crow are strong contenders eyeing for the lead spot. Emmy winner Aaron Paul also expressed his intentions and enthusiasm in landing on the lead cast of the movie. Unfortunately, without an official director for the movie, a lead actor is yet to be revealed.
The first book of the series, "The Gunslinger" is a mix of horror and fantasy. The whole eight novels of "The Dark Tower" series follows the adventures and misfortunes of lead character Roland Deschain. He is considered as the last gunslinger of the Mid-World and is traveling across the realms in search of the elusive and mysterious "The Dark Tower."
Sony's chairman, Tom Rothman is a huge fan of the Stephen King's series and expressed his delight over the new script created for the movie. 'This is a great opportunity for a director to put his or her stamp on a cool global franchise, "Rothman shared. A director is expected to be named before by May of this year.
