Haim Saban, the entertainment studio that brought us the 90's phenomenon "Power Rangers" has collaborated with Lionsgate to continue and raise the bar for this iconic franchise. The plot will still carry the core backstory of high school students possessing incredible powers and battle skills which they will use to fight evil and maintain peace. The details of the plot and the cast is still scarce but despite the slow progress, the movie is expected to announce its official cast soon.
According to TheWrap, "X-Men : First Class" and "Thor"'s very own Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz will be penning the film. But the film's road to the big screen faced some challenges as Robert Orci dropped the project to direct "Star Trek 3". Allison Shearmur from "The Hunger Games" movie series took over Orci's place in producing the film.

I know they're looking at him, but I don't think it's a done deal. I know they're in talks with him right now. They're still negotiating a deal.
