AMC has held the panel screening of the Walking Dead season 5 finale earlier tonight at the Egyptian theater. The event's highlights include praises for Andrew Lincoln from co-stars, how characters are often killed, and surprisingly the lack of mention for the word zombie.
The panel discussion, which was held after the screening, was filled with laughter and praises for Andrew Lincoln. Lincoln's co-stars went out of their way "to praise Lincoln as a supportive coworker who as often as not goes to the mat for his fellow actors". This, according to Deadline.com is a touching stuff to witness. Deadline's very own Dominic Patten served as the moderator of the discussion.
The discussion eventually led to "The Walking Dead" deaths after Chad Coleman gave his thoughts about the death of Tyrese (Coleman's character role), who has been killed in the second half of season 5. Coleman, in fact served as a kind of representative for all the characters that have been brutally removed from the show.
Lincoln weighed in, saying that "It is inevitable that we're all gonna get it at some point and the manner in which you deal with that is the mark of who you are."
He said that this often killing off of characters in the show is a kind culture and that something to be considered unique. As long as it serves the story, he and his co-stars wouldn't mind, Lincoln added.
So could this mean Lincoln's okay with his character killed in the story anytime soon? Not really because he immediately cleared his previous statement in a humurous way. "But don't get me wrong," Lincoln said to big laughs when the cast was asked if he spoke for them, "if they kill me off I'm gonna burn my trailer down".
Also, the word zombie is intentionally not mentioned in the discussion. Robert Kirkman, the series and comics co-creator, explained that if they purposely leave the word zombie out, and have the show filmed in a place where zombies didn't exist, they would be able to make things more believable.
Lincoln also praised Coleman and his other co-stars and revealed that he wanted to play the role of Herschel, Daryl Dixon, and Norman Reedus when asked if he could play other roles.
Scott Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Michael Cudlitz were also present in the event.
Spoilers and Cast updates for the Walking Dead Season 6 were also not mentioned in the discussion.
