Let's face it: Apple products are just cooler, sleeker, sexier. Unfortunately they tend to be more expensive too.
But the iPad Mini will change that. Expected to be priced around $199, the iPad Mini is Apple's answer to competition from the recently released Kindle Fire HD, the Nexus 7, and Barnes and Noble's Nook, all similarly priced.
Relying on information posted on the technology website AllThingsD, rumors have been building that the new device will be available on Oct. 23, as reported by ABC News, which commented that the site, "has a very good track record" when it comes to reporting on Apple.
That's just three days before Microsoft is scheduled to unveil its Windows 8 and new Surface tablet, as reported by Reuters.
Ofcourse, Apple has not confirmed the existence of the new tablet but a number of leaks, including leaks of photos, as well as an article in The Wall Street Journal claiming the product is being mass produced in Chinese factories seem to provide credible evidence that it is in the works.
Unfortunately for interested consumers if the Oct. 23 rumor is correct, the unveiling will be a private media event, invitation only.
This is what we know so far: the Mini is expected to have a screen between seven and eight inches and will utilize the same Lightning Dock Connector as the new iPhone 5, and 3G/4G cellular connectivity, according to rumors.
Apple stock rose 0.6 percent at mid-day to $631.63, Reuters reported.
So far, according to all available sources, no invitations to the media event have been sent out yet.
