After a few setbacks and delays, Slightly Mad Studios’ Project CARS is clearly set for a May 2015 release. The motorsport simulation aims to bring the thrill of car racing to the PS4, Xbox One and PC. However, publisher Bandai-Namco set it fit to delay its release three times already to ensure that the game’s content will satisfy the expectations of their fans.
However, as reported by Gamespot, the delays are in part caused by certain bugs that are hard to fix. Though no details are available about these bugs, it can be assumed that multiplayer performance issues are among those things they need to completely perfect.
Upon the release of screenshots and trailers of Project CARS, many are already excited as the graphics and visuals are beautiful. Though gameplay is said to achieve consistent 60fps, it is only when the game is released that the true test begins.
Kotaku posted on their website, a thrilling 20-minute gameplay video of Project CARS and it is stunning.
In another story, Gamingbolt reported that Project CARS will utilize the Xbox One and PS4 hardware to its fullest.
Slightly Mad Studios said as posted on Gamingbolt,
“First of all the game will be utilizing 8X Anisotropic filtering on both the PS4 and Xbox One which will improve the image quality. The game will also utilize motion blur although it will be comparable to the medium setting on the PC.”
The studio continues with, “The final build will have significantly improved frame pacing and the general feeling of smoothness especially when cornering.”
The game will also support online racing matches of 15 players on the console, but PC games can race against 31 opponents online. Project CARS is a truly epic ambition of Slight Mad Studios.
Slight Mad Studios aim to set the bar on extreme motorsport racing simulation. However with other racing games coming later this year, an early May release must completely blow away fans or face the backlash of fans. The game promises big and should deliver well or else, Grand Turismo 7 will mow down Project CARS completely.
