Superman to die in 'Batman vs Superman'? Lois Lane wedding impossible; Teaser trailer unveils major plot spoilers

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is shaping up to be one of the biggest superhero movies, ever, thanks to the fabled meeting of Batman and Superman onscreen. But it might not end the way you think it will- in fact, it might just end with Superman no longer alive.

We already know, through a recent spoiler, that one classic DC Comics character won't make it through Batman vs Superman. HNGN recently spoiled that Dick Grayson, better known as Robin, will be dead in the film. HNGN discovered a new group of Batman v Superman images that show a gravestone with Grayson's nickname. It's been rumored that the Joker (who will be played by Jared Leto, first in Suicide Squad) will be the one to kill Grayson in the film, although it has yet to be confirmed.

As well, rumors point to classic Batman character Commissioner James Gordon being dead in the film. Again, the Joker is the likeliest culprit of who would kill James Gordon, although it's still possible another Batman villain (or maybe Batman vs Superman's villain, Lex Luthor- played by Jesse Eisenberg) could be the one to kill James Gordon.

All of that makes it more likely that Superman might not survive the film (and if that's the case, forget about any marriages to Lois Lane). Batman vs Superman is based off the classic comic by Frank Miller, titled The Dark Knight Returns, but there's another classic titled The Death of Superman that could just as easily become part of the film. The Death of Superman, obviously, is about the demise of the Man of Steel, at the hands of the villain Doomsday. Doomsday has long been rumored to be a part of the film, brought to life by CGI, as no actors have been cast or linked to the role.

A recent trailer for Batman vs Superman has catapulted fan interest even higher, showing the first images of Ben Affleck as Batman, and the fight that should serve as the centerpiece of the film.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will premiere on March 25, 2016.
