'Arrow,' 'The Flash,' Rumored for DC Crossover? Series to Turn into Animated Films?

By

The DC Cinematic Universe is just beginning, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice releasing next year on March 25 and officially kicking off an expanded universe of DC comic book properties, like Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash and Suicide Squad. These characters will all be crossing over into each other's films, no doubt- just like Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, is appearing in Batman v Superman, we'll likely get at least one Batman v Superman cameo when the Wonder Woman movie comes out.

But there are other potential crossovers out there. Screen Rant reports that it's possible the DC Cinematic Universe could cross over with the smaller scale, DC TV universe, consisting of Arrow, The Flash, and a second spin-off that's rumored to be titled Atom. This makes a lot of sense, as most of the heroes in the CW universe, like Green Arrow and the Atom, aren't quite famous enough to warrant a DC movie (unlike Green Lantern or Wonder Woman).

However, the Flash has been cast in the DC Cinematic Universe, with Ezra Miller playing the role. And the CW has its own Flash, played by Grant Gustin. Combining these two may prove difficult.

MoviePilot, meanwhile, has a new rumor- that DC and Marvel will collaborate on a new animated movie. Recently, it was revealed that Marvel is working on animated films that will tie into their own cinematic universe, so this is entirely possible. However, there are many fans who would prefer the two universes stay separate as well.

As well, Supergirl is a rumored part of the DC Cinematic Universe. The series will be executive produced by Greg Berlanti, who helped create both The Flash and Arrow, even though the series will not be part of the CW universe in any official context. Melissa Benoist will be playing Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman and an incredibly powerful alien in her own right. That series will air on CBS, likely in the fall of 2015.
