Apple's much-anticipated media event to be held at 10AM Pacific Standard Time today will be video streamed live on the company's website. Click here to watch the event: apple.com, That's 12 PM CST and 1 PM EST.
To watch the video stream from your computer, you must have Safari 4 or later, running on Mac OS X v10.6 or later; or Safari on iOS 4.2 or later. To watch from an Apple TV requires "second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 5.0.2 or later," according to The Next Web.
Invitations sent to the media last week stating only, "We have a little more to show you," have fanned suspicions that the event will feature the latest iteration of Apple's hugely successful iPad, referred to as the iPad Mini, though Apple has not yet confirmed its existence.
The expectation is that the iPad Mini will have a screen that is seven to eight inches, measured diagonally, and will be priced in a range from $299 to $349.
It is also expected that Apple will unveil updated versions of its Macintosh computers this morning, according to a Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu, as reported by USA Today. The prediction is that these will include new models of the iMac desktop, MacBook laptops and the "Mac Mini component computer."
The best guesses by media covering the industry is that the new iPad will hit stores nine days from today's event, based on previous Apple history, and that the company will begin to take orders right away.
The Mini's competition includes the recently launched Kindle Fire HD by Amazon, priced at $199 to start. The product will also compete with Google and Asus Nexus 7 launced over the summer for $199 and the Nook HD, launched by Barnes and Noble this month, starting at $199.
