The record-breaking FOX TV show Empire is rumoured to be cancelled due to a contract failure. However, FOX maintains the show goes on. According to the hoax news, Charles MacRae, FOX's public relations representative elaborates that the pay towards series creator, Lee Daniels and Danny Strong fail to reach a satisfactory fee that cause them to pull out.
The said rumours came from an entertainment website, New York Times News which is distinct and different from New York Times; also a Facebook post about the rumour exists that gathers more than 130,000 hits. While stars express dismay about the hoax news, Taraji P. Henson has not released any official statement about it in any of her social networking sites. The upheaval about the fake cancellation report is expected since Empire is the No.1 series of the season with 5.3 Nielsen ratings, according to one source. Moreover, it is the only new series to grow from Week 1 to Week 2.
In relation to Empire's renewal, FOX Television Group's co-chairman and CEO Dana Walden announces in the Saturday's Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena that Empire definitely renews for a second season. The TV series is created by Lee Daniels and the same even confirms he eyes on Lenny Kravitz, Denzel Washington and Oprah for season 2.
Empire narrates the story of a business tycoon, Lucious Lyon who runs a successful music corporation. He finds out he suffers from an incurable disease and only has a few years left to live. To make sure he facilitates his "retirement" well and at the same time to assure that the company he worked hard for remains in good hands, Lucious chooses among his three sons as to who inherits Empire. The complexities arise when his former wife, Cookie returns and aims to own the company she claims as hers. The musical drama is said to be loosely based from the life story of hip-hop tycoon, Jay-Z.
