Rolltop 2.0 Release, Specs: 17-inch OLED Multi-touch Screen Cyberscroll; Release Still Pending as Donations Sought

By

Once rolling, the Rolltop 2.0 should win most every laptop die-hard and techie guy's heart, quite easily. Spelled in utter convenience, the concept of a 17-inch OLED screen complete with a full-pledged keyboard rolled like paper and being carried around without causing undue constraints on your part is a marketing dream waiting to happen. And right there is the problem: The device is still in the drawing boards.

Though the idea has been floated around since way back 2009 and its concept made available to the public, it has yet to be materialized into the production process. That has only made many who long for the added comfort ecstatic over its realization. However, no official release date has been made available by the original purveyors of the idea - only the promise and some stunning visuals.

True, lobbing a 4-sided portable PC in the form of a laptop/netbook is still not as convenient as many would want it to be. In spite of the fact that the trend has seen a descaling of the gadget's size as reported on Google News.

Enter the Rolltop 2.0 a concept from Orkin Design drooled over by many. And you've got a flexible OLED multitouch display that can double as a 13-inch laptop or when with a stand can function as a full 17-inch monitor, notes CNET.

What makes it a stunner is you can conveniently roll the screen into an 11-inch tube curling around a base tower that houses nifty devices as a webcam and the detachable power supply and cable that rolls into a shoulder strap. Neat!

However, much as the design has created a stir in the marketing world, the product's blueprint seem to show no sign of life.

Designers have fleshed out their stunning designs for the Rolltop 2.0 posting it in their website for everybody to scrutinize.

The originators say they really weren't thinking about making the project a reality.

However, they are in the look-out for partners and donations, something that should make the Rolltop 2.0 a reality.
