Fans got more than they expected when the most recently released trailer for "Batman: Arkham Knight" showed off a new gameplay mode together with footage from the upcoming title. The new gameplay mode, known as dual play, will enable players to quickly switch between the caped crusader himself and his allies including Catwoman, Nightwing, and Robin.
To those who may be confused or have no idea as to how this new dual play mode will actually be implemented inside the game, they can think back to "Grand Theft Auto V" and imagine how players would switch between the different protagonists in that title to get a better idea, according to Gamespot.
Switching can be done even in the middle of heated combat, allowing players to pull of more elaborate maneuvers as they attempt to ward off enemies. When the trailer was initially released, there was confusion as to what was going on between Batman and his allies, with some news outlets concluding that the trailer may have featured the player working together with AI-controlled allies to take down the opponents.
It was only later on when Warner Bros. indicated to Eurogamer that the footage showed off a new gameplay feature that people figured out that it was also the player who was controlling all the other characters involved in the fight. Apart from the trailer revealing a new gameplay mode, there were other interesting parts of the game shown in the short video.
Azrael, a mysterious figure in the Batman universe, is seen in the trailer, but little else is shown in regards to him, according to PC Gamer. His role in the latest installment of the franchise is still yet to be revealed, but fans will be excited to know what it could possibly be.
Well-known Batman foes Scarecrow and Two-Face are also included in the trailer. "Batman: Arkham Knight" will be released on June 23 for the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
