Star Wars Rebels Season 2 is bringing back on the animated series some of the best loved and most reviled original movie characters.
The show trailer which was launched at the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim confirmed the appearance of Darth Vader who is also shown in a promotion poster to be crossing light sabers with Jedi Master Anakin Skywalker's former apprentice, Ahsoka Tano. Darth Vader will be voiced by the original cast of the Star Wars Trilogy, James Earl Jones.
Hondo Ohnaka, the Weequay pirate who led the Ohnaka Gang on the Outer Rim world of Florrum during the Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will be voiced by Jim Cummings.
But the best welcome was reserved by fans for the reappearance of troopers Captain Rex, Commander Wolfe, and Captain Gregor of the 501st clone battalion - all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.
Captain Rex served the Republic during the Clone Wars and is remembered for his fondness of using 2 blaster pistols at the same time. Clone Commander Wolffe (CC-3636) served under General Plo Koon as commander of the tight-knit unit known as the Wolfpack. Captain Gregor (CC-5576-39) was a clone of bounty hunter Jango Fett raised on the world of Kamino and specially trained to be a clone commando.
There is also talk that a young Princess Leia Organa, one of the Rebel Alliance's greatest leaders who fights well both in high-level discussions and the battlefield, will appear in Season 2 and that Sarah Michelle Geller will play the role. Leia is the daughter of Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, sister of Luke Skywalker and with a soft spot for scruffy nerf herder Han Solo.
Earlier reports had Harrison Ford, the original Han Solo, discussing the possibility of a cameo appearance in the 2nd season of Star Wars Rebels.
The Star Ward Rebels setting is only 5 years before that of Episode IV: A New Hope when the rebellion was just starting out.
Star Wars Rebels Season 2 will air this summer.
