When Samsung Gear Smartwatch's next generation release shows up in the market fans will be treated to the first round face smartwatch from the Korean company, and a fusion of technology with art and fashion.
Samsung introduced its first venture into the Android-world's circular display gear market via an announcement that it is welcoming developers to access the Software Development Kit (SDK) before the official product announcement, complete with poster teasers of rounded displays showing CNN, Baidu, FidMe, and Apposter.
JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics told media that "Samsung welcomes developers and industry leaders to join this open collaboration effort to enrich and create unique user experiences for a news smart mobile life."
Rumor is rife about Samsung possibly releasing two variants of the round smartwatch, with one having 3G connectivity with call ability, and the other with Bluetooth connectivity.
Sammobile sources say that Samsung is giving more than the usual attention to its first round smartwatch and has teamed up with name brands and artists to create custom watch bands for what is to be called the Samsung Gear A.
Samsung 's next generation Gear Smartwatch (codenamed Project Orbis) will also carry a rotating bezel ring that could be used to scroll down lists, zoom in and out on the display, and set the time and alarm.
Talk has it that world renowned pop artist Romero Britto will be involved in the new line as he had already previously worked with Samsung to create custom cases for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Brazilian-born and now Miami-resident Britto's art and designs are said to combine influences from cubism with pop, creating an iconic style that has won him a following on all continents and collaboration with Audi, Bentley, Disney, Technomarine, Evian, and FIFA.
Samsung could also be again contracting Swarovski to create accessories for devices which had previously placed Swarovski crystals on Samsung charm straps and phone covers.
Z Zegna, Tech21, Anymore, and Incipio may also be designing the custom bands for the Orbis.
The next Samsung Gear Smartwatch will be the 7th generation smartwatch from the Korean electronics company.
