‘Death Note’ Live Action Movie Latest Update: Adam Wingard lands as director; Movie in search for its lead star

By

The US is about to be conquered by the American "Death Note" movie adaptation. The film has recently announced Adam Wingard from the movie "You're Next" and "The Guest" as its director. His brillian experience in horror will definitely bring a different kind of flair for the upcoming film. Meanwhile the search for Hollywood stars to be casted as Light and Kira begins.

Adam Wingard is one of the names speculated to direct the film. Shane Black was the first writer/director attached to the movie reboot. Gus Van Sant was later on rumored to be replacing Black in directing the film. It was only just a few days ago when Wingard was finally hailed as the official director of the upcoming film. The live-action movie adaptation will most likely start its production after Adam Wingard's stint on the movie "The Woods" this summer.

Lead stars for the "Death Note" movie are yet to be announced but rumors of Maika Monroe to play as Misa in the upcoming film are already making rounds online. The movie that originated with the Japanese Comic book released back in the early 2000's had an earlier movie adaptation in Japan back in 2006. The movie was clearly a great adaptation of the movie but did not manage to make it big on the Japanese cinemas. Hopefully, a movie reboot from Warner Brothers will do justice to the popular Japanese Manga.

"Death Note" will feature Light, an exceptional high-school student who happens to find an extra-ordinary notebook. He meets the Shinigami Ryuk who takes away the life of any person whose name is written on the notebook. Light played vigilante and killed several criminals in the process, leading police to hire an FBI expert profiler, Kira to stop the random killing. The movie is based on a manga created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The comic book spawned into a spin-off manga, an anime, anime film and a Japanese movie adaptation.

Adam Wingard's creativity and cinematic prowess will be tested as he directs the "Death Note" movie reboot. A script based on Jeremy Slater's creation is being considered for the upcoming film. Actors who will play as Light and Kira are expected to be announced before the year ends.
