'Spider-Man' Reboot Update: Marvel reveals Asa Butterfield as the new Peter Parker? Plot takes place after ‘Civil War’

Asa Butterfield is now one of the best contender to suit up as Spidey in the upcoming "Spider-Man" movie. Marvel and Sony aim to relase the upcoming Spider-Man reboot on July 28, 2017 with "Spider-Man: The New Avenger" as its working title. Plot will take place after the events in "Captain America 3: Civil War."

Asa Butterfield is the new Peter Parker

"Spider-Man" is going to appear in the next Marvel movie that will go into production, "Captain America: Civil War." A "Spider-Man" standalone film is also going to be co-produced by Marvel and Sony.

There were five actors that Marvel was previously searching at to take on the role as the next Peter Parker. They were:

  • Nat Wolff ("The Fault in Our Stars")
  • Liam James ("The Killing")
  • Asa Butterfield ("Ender's Game")
  • Tom Holland ("In the Heart of the Sea")
  • Timothee Chalamet ("Interstellar")

Among the five, Asa Butterfield reportedly had the role.

Latino Review tried to reach out to Butterfield's representatives and they gave the publication a "no comment" gesture. When Latino Review spoke with other industry sources, these have confirmed and reportedly said, "Mavel had liked him [Butterfield] since day one." This was seen to be a good choice, and as what Forbes also commented, "Obviously, the most important thing here is that Marvel casts a good actor, and Butterfield has proven several times over that he's more than capable in that regard."

"Spider-Man: The New Avenger"

It was also said that Sony seemed to be aiming to use the Avengers in any way that they can to bring fans to the new "Spider-Man" franchise, and previous rumors are saying that it could be titled as "Spider-Man: The New Avenger." If the rumors about Butterfield bagging the lead role turn out to be true, he will be joining the cast in the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" future films.

Peter Parker will make an appearance in "Captain America: Civil War" on May 6, 2016. After that, the co-produced "Spider-Man" solo film hit theaters on July 28, 2017.

An animated "Spider-Man" is also set to show in the big screen that will involve Phil Lord and Chris Miller ("The Lego Movie"), and "The Amazing Spider-Man" producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.
