Despite Zayn Malik leaving One Direction, the now four-member British boyband is still active and is in fact already working on a new album. Liam Payne announced that their new songs will sound like Oasis with an influence from Ed Sheeran.
Liam Payne together with Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles have started recording their fifth record early part of April since Zayn Malik left last March. Speaking inan interview with a radio station, Liam revealed that their new songs will be more "chilled" this time. He said they got inspiration from Ed Sheeran's album which is something that listeners won't get tired of listening to anytime they want to. However, even before Zayn left, the new album was already in the works.
In the early part of this year, Liam was seen with rap star Juicy J possibly working on some eclectic song mix at the studio. Last February, Liam and Louis were spotted with Nickelback's Chad Kroeger working on the new album. Liam revealed that the fifth album is not something they have done before. It may be released this coming Christmas though this has yet to be confirmed. What is sure is that fans will get to hear the new songs this year.
Aside from taking inspiration from Ed Sheeran, a report says One Direction's new album will be "Oasis-y", says Liam. Oasis is also a British band whose songs such as Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova rose to fame in the 90s.
Meanwhile, another source says that Mark Owen, member of the boyband Take That, is concerned for Zayn Malik since he left the band. It said Owen hopes the rest of the members have checked on Malik. He admitted that just like the younger boyband, they were so busy when their member Robbie Willliams left the group that they forgot to even give him a call.
Still, even without Zayn Malik, One Direction's Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Niall Horan promise not to let down their fans who can expect to hear a surprisingly new take on their music.
