Jay Z to hold ‘Tidal X: Jaÿ-Z B-Sides’ Concert in New York; Artist wants to give his music streaming company a lift

By

With the reported impending doom of his Tidal service and following his Twitter outburst, Jay Z is giving his empire a boost by announcing a special concert on May 13 in New York entitled "Tidal X: Jaÿ-Z B-Sides." The said concert will feature array of tracks that the rapper has never performed onstage or songs that have not been performed live in over a decade. In order to get exclusive access, fans and entrants must be "Tidal" users.

After taking to Twitter that his streaming service is just "doing fine," Jay Z must really be resolute as Tidal recently held shows of the two of its co-founders J. Cole and Jack White. And now Jay Z himself will be having his own cabaret to be streamed in the company's website. And to treat its users, "Tidal" is offering tickets for the exclusive performance. But there's a catch.

To enter the "unannounced" venue in New York City, users must submit their own playlist and share it on Twitter with the hashtag #TIDALXJAYZ. So it only means you have to show your skills in building a playlist and putting plethora of your favorite songs, incorporating everything regardless of genre. It really is a tough competition as it will be judged according on the diversity of artists, the sequencing, and the genres it covers. A participant must be 18 years old and over with only one playlist to submit. And to make it appealing, winners will receive a pair of tickets to the special show.

If the odds are not in favor for the partakers, the performance will be streamed on Tidal's website. And as to lure the fans into watching and not to miss it, the website reads "The show the fans have been asking for. Jaÿ-Z performs the album cuts. All the best 'B-sides' of his career." The re-stylized name of "Jaÿ-Z" is also noticeable on the ad. Could it be a reinvention?

The rapper already had a live performance similar to this special Tidal show, so it's not his first time to do it. In July last year, he dropped by to join Jay Electronica's set at the 2014 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. Meanwhile, there will be over a thousand winners to be chosen on the contest, therefore, if you are a fan of Jay Z, make sure to not miss visiting the website for the full details of the special show.
