Fans of the television drama series "Revenge" will surely miss the gripping thrill as ABC will finally cut the show after four seasons. Still in its fourth and current season, the show's very last episode will be airing this May 10. Corroborating this, executive producer Sunil Nayar confirmed on Wednesday that the date will mark the end of Emily Thorne's quest to avenge the death of her father.
ABC's primetime series "Revenge" debuted in 2011 with a blow. It garnered 10 million viewers tuning in and became the network's top performer on Wednesday nights. However, its viewers dropped down as low as 5 million compared to its third season's average of 8.4 million. This is because the series shifted in a Sunday airtime. Regardless of the truncated number of viewers, the show continued until season four.
But now, the story that thrilled viewers will come to its conclusion in the fourth season as ABC confirmed the very last episode will be aired on May 10. Executive producer Nayar recently told Entertainment Weekly: "We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story." As much as the finale is so fabulous, all narrative has come to an end. "It has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end. This is the series finale of Revenge that will be airing in a couple weeks," Nayar said.
Although it's a bad news for fans, they weren't absolutely surprised as they have already anticipated the worst with the death of Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe). Meanwhile, as Victoria's death has already been spilled, the official synopsis reads: "Backed into a corner, Emily is forced to admit her guilt, but she'll have to decide how far she'll go before admitting defeat, on the season finale of 'Revenge.'"
"Revenge" season four revolves around Emily Thorne, also known as Amanda Clarke (Emily VanCamp), as she seeks revenge for her father's death. She soon found out that her father is alive and was only abducted. Emily is pursuing Victoria as the latter is somewhat playing a part in the abduction of Thorne's father. Now, Victoria killed herself and astutely framed Emily. And that actually resulted to Vancamp's character to be put behind bars.
At this point, although it sounds predictable on what will happen next, Nayar has a caveat. "There's a tiny little cliffhanger in the series finale," he also told Entertainment Weekly. Could it be a plot twist? Nayar also expressed that his team wouldn't want people to get weary of the stories they are telling, and that the fans deserve an appropriate ending to the series.
Nayar also warns that it will not be a happy ending for the protagonist, and there are really shocking things that will happen in the finale. Some of it are the things "they don't know they want yet and some of what they never expected," according to him. And if fans are still dubious, Nayar promises that they are going to be extremely satisfied.
Fair enough, the show received a positive critical response and really deserves an exquisite ending. Will you be watching the finale? What do you think will happen to Emily? Don't forget to watch this final episode entitled "Two Graves" on Sunday, May 10 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. You'll gonna miss it when it's gone!
