Following the rounds of revelations on Olivia Munn and Kodi Smit-McPhee's characters, "X-Men: Apocalypse" director yet again revealed another peek of young characters as he posted on Instagram the first look of young Jean Grey and Jubilee. The images were posted in the second day of shooting in Canada. And to make a fair point, the exclusive first looks of Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and Jubilee (Lana Condor) are very faithful to the comic books.
As shown on the Instagram image, "Game of Thrones" character Sophie Turner is sporting a red hair similar to her role as Sansa Stark in the HBO film, but only more vibrant. She certainly looks the part of a regular teenager of the '80s with her skinny jeans and long sleeve top. On the other hand, newcomer Lana Condor is nothing but opposite to Turner with her full of jubilation look. She is donning a yellow jacket with shirt underneath that says "Bring on the light." What makes the look deficient is the signature giant pink sunglasses to achieve the full look as shown in the comics.
In "X-Men: Apocalypse," Turner's telekinetic character will be the love interest of Tye Sheridan's Scott Summers also known as Cyclops. Fans can expect that their relationship will play out in the film. Sheridan's character has the power of optic blasts. He was the first member of the X-Men recruited by Charles Xavier/Professor X (will be played by James McAvoy) in the comic books. Meanwhile, Condor doesn't have acting credits yet. This must be challenging for her as this is her first major blockbuster movie.
The string of first looks was because of director Bryan Singer. He really did harness the use of social media to tease and promote new clips and photos of the film. Just last week, he previously debuted the transformation of Kodi Smit-McPhee as young Nightcrawler also known as Kurt Wagner, the blue mutant. He rocks the look of Michael Jackson in his video "Thriller" as he stands out with his blue skin and red jacket. The director immediately deleted the image as soon as it came up.
Turner, Condor, Smit-McPhee, and Sheridan will be starring alongside Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as the young Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor X, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, and among others. The "X-Men" film is slated for a May 27, 2016 release date. It is currently being filmed at La Cité du Cinéma in Montreal.
Now, do you love the interpretation of the young characters? Do they fit the right period of 1983? Will they give justice to their respective roles? Make sure to share us your comments below.
