The Evil Within's second DLC, The Consequence, has been recently released following the conclusion of the first DLC, The Assignment. The Consequence picks up Juli Kidman's storyline right where it left off in The Assignment and brings conclusion to her story and mysterious affairs. Here's a rundown of what's in store in The Evil Within's first two DLC packs:
The Assignment and The Consequence explores the story of detective Juli Kidman and her whereabouts during The Evil Within's main story. Juli Kidman is the sidekick of The Evil Within's original protagonist, police detective Sebastian Castellanos. Although The Assignment and The Consequence takes the series to an all new direction, the DLCs did not fail to maintain an interesting story interweaved with thrill and horror that fans have come to know of The Evil Within.
The first DLC pack, The Assignment, was released on March 10 and was quickly distinguished from the main story in terms of defense since Juli Kidman is mostly unarmed during the game and relies on stealth to get past those gruesome monsters. She sneaks into airducts, hide behind objects, and toss bottles to lure monsters away from her. This could be a let-down to players who were hoping to get satisfaction out of sadistically bashing the monsters to death but regardless, The Assignment still packs some gore and violent images that could feed the players' needs.
The story starts when Juli Kidman wakes up injured in an ambulance and tries to figure out what started the mess. Juli Kidman experiences a series of hallucinogenic nightmares which blends reality with fantasy. The Assignment leaves the 4-hour long storyline in a frustrating cliff-hanger that is instantly picked up in the second DLC, The Consequence.
New enemies and mysteries are introduced in The Consequence but is mostly much like the first DLC with its regular scares that developer Tango Gameworks never fails to deliver. The landscape still frequently warps and distorts, and the soundtrack still effectively brings up the tension to its maximum. The Consequence concludes Juli Kidman's story as it sheds light on Juli's hidden motivations and mysterious connections with the Mobius group which is believed to be behind The Evil Within's horrifying events.
Since The Evil Within is directed by the same Japanese designer of the Resident Evil franchise, Shinji Mikami, the bloodcurdling terror is expected to be part of The Evil Within package. The Assignment and The Consequence are two of the three promised DLCs for The Evil Within. The Evil Within: The Consequence is now available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
