Microsoft Build conference held on the April 29th impressed the its new hologram device called HoloLens It was also announced that the company has over a 100 units to be handed out to participating devs for a trial demo. Another impressive news is the release of the new Visual Studio. It promises to enable apps written in various programming languages to cross between different platforms.

Microsoft released Visual Studio, a code editor that runs on all known platforms such as iOS, Linux and Windows. The latest developer tool supports various languages used in different environments. Through the new Visual Studio, developers of iOS and Mac apps who prefer and make their apps using Ojective-C can now create Windows 10 apps using the same language.

The same goes for Java developers creating Android apps. Visual Studio aims to eliminate language boundaries among developers dedicated to individual systems. This latest product from Microsoft may enable Windows to accommodate existing and future Android and iOS apps making Windows a universal operating system. Microsoft also gave interesting details in the current development of the HoloLens.

Microsoft's virtual reality device HoloLens was first introduced in January. Back in its introduction a few months ago, the majority of the tech people weren't even nearly convinced with its existence until the actual demo took place on May 1. After the Build conference, participants were invited to the HoloLens demo the following day in Intercontinental Hotel, San Francisco.

The augmented reality head gear went up a few notches than its competitors with its spatial sound that eliminates the need to wear an ear phone. It features spatial mapping that allows a holographic image to be placed on real world things such as the wall or table surface while producing realistic response such as a holographic ball rolling on real world floor.

The user can also interact with the hologram through simple hand gestures. The most interesting HoloLens feature is that it can create interactive holograms for all universal Windows apps which was announced by Brandon Bray at the conference.

These new development from Microsoft was quite surprising and many seem to be skeptical about its promises which is understandable considering the long lag between major development success in the company. However, the HoloLens is proof the Microsoft may be on its way to a revolutionary advancement in technology.
