Three "Lego Movie" Franchises in the Works; Warner Bros reveals production details

Earning $460 million worldwide, "The Lego Movie" was a surefire hit in 2014, thus causing fans to ask for a sequel. On the other hand, Warner Bros is not only giving what the audiences want, because aside from "The Lego Movie 2," "The Lego Batman Movie" and "Ninjago" movie are also being done.

Dark Knight in "The Lego Batman Movie" will be voiced by Will Arnett. The Batman movie "will explore Batman's emotions and have him trying to find happiness," said Phil Lord, one of the directors of the first Lego movie. Chris McKay will be directing the movie and Seth Grahame-Smith of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies") will write the script.

Charlie Bean of "Tron: Uprising" will direct "Ninjago" and Dan and Kevin Hageman, who both wrote "Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu" will also write for the said movie. As for both "Ninjago" and "The Lego Movie Sequel," plot details are not available yet.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller will not direct the "The Lego Movie Sequel" like the first one. "I think it's nice for all these other films to have their own voice and that's what's neat about working with other filmmakers," said Lord. "They come up with solutions you wouldn't think of. Watching Charlie Bean's sequences for Ninjago is so gratifying because he's able to make it play without any dialogue and has a really great visual style. It's really nice and refreshing. I think if would be boring if we directed them all, honestly." Rob Schrab will take the director's seat.

Dan Fellman, domestic distribution president of Warner Bros. said, "These three films already in the pipeline are just the beginning of a creative and diverse animation slate that will be delighting audiences for years to come."

The first one to be released is "The Lego Batman Movie" which will be on February 17, 2017 while "Ninjago" on September 22, 2017. The last to come out will be "The Lego Movie Sequel," which will be on May 18, 2018, maybe because of the first Lego movie's end credits that took two months to make. Meaning, making The Lego movie takes a really long time.
