Lego aims produce eight feature films which includes "The Lego Batman Movie," "Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu," and "The Lego Movie Sequel." The toy company has teamed up with several studios as they set their eyes on the silver screen.
The little plastic toys the world has come to know and love as Lego has been providing years upon years of enjoyment to kids and grownups alike. Its popularity has made the brand more than just a toy. It is now also a big name in the billion dollar industry that is the cinema. As of this month, Lego has already teamed up with several studios to produce eight feature length films although most of which are direct-to-DVD releases.
In 2014, "The Lego Movie" was released much to the delight of plenty of moviegoers as can be seen in the box office returns. All over the world, the movie raked in more than $468 million. This puts the earning for the movie at around $229 million. With a lot of effort going into the movie, the huge success is well deserved. The end credits alone took two months to complete.
After the successful release of "The Lego Movie", it is a no-brainer that Warner and Lego would push ahead with plans for further movies. The next project which is still in development is "The Lego Batman Movie" which is set to be released on February 10, 2017. This is a spin-off from the original Lego movie. The studio is yet to announce the final title for this project.
Another spin-off movie is in development, this one featuring Lego ninjas. This project will have a different take on the TV Series "Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu". This movie is scheduled to be released on September 22, 2017. A sequel could also be released a year after if it does well in the box office.
Due to the development of the two spin-off movies, "The Lego Movie Sequel" has been pushed back for a 2018 release. The writers for the sequel have already alluded that it would take place 4 years after the events of the original "The Lego Movie".
