News about the remastered version of the first Gears of War in Xbox One have been spreading like wildfire but until now, no official announcement from the developers have been made. However, some pretty convincing proofs have surfaced. Here is why Gears of War remastered is believed to be under development for Xbox One.
A couple of old games are being brought back to life as developers hope to expose well known titles to the new-gen technology. Such is the case with Santa Monica Studio's God of War III which first came out five years ago but is getting a remastered version featuring 1080p and 60 fps.
However, with God of War III Remastered, the news had been officially confirmed by Santa Monica Studios themselves. When Black Tusk studio head Rod Fergusson denied the rumoured Marcus Fenix Collection and instead said, "We ARE working on other exciting Gears projects. I'll see you at E3," fans started wondering what it could be.
Late in April, a number of people were given access to a test build for Gears of War in Xbox One which was at first thought to be just an unannounced Gears collection. However, three different people confirmed that the test build is in fact the first Gears of War game.
The test build was only in multiplayer mode including Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, 1 Life 1V1 Shotgun TDM, 1v1 Sudden Death Gnashers Only, 4v4 TDM Single Round, and 4v4 KOTH Single Round. Apparently, the build featured improved lighting and textures, and runs at 60 fps.
It is also said that Gears of War remastered is being handled by Brink developer Splash Damage. Recently, Splash Damage posted a series of job listings in their official website looking for people to work on a "highly popular AAA title with next gen technology." Could this be Gears of War remastered?
Microsoft had already previously denied that the three main Gears of War games would get a remastered collection in Xbox One but the first game seems like it would. The original Gears of War was released in 2006 for Xbox 360 and PC. If rumours prove to be true, Gears of War remastered might be announced at the 2015 E3 this June and will come to Xbox One platforms in the future.
