Apple just released the new iOS 8.4 beta 2 which shows a new Music app complete with a new interface, mini-player view and trending search function.
The iOS 8.4 beta 2 release comes a few weeks after the first beta was rolled out and is accessible to developers using the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It can be downloaded off of Apple's Developer Website or via Software Update. Once downloaded, rolling back to a previous version will no longer be possible.
The free beta 2 was launched to fix bugs and issues found in the iOS 8.4 music app. Bugs that were fixed included the following: non-working in-app purchases; graphical tearing while minimizing the mini-player; and malfunctioning Music app shuffle mode.
On the other hand, four new bugs were found and are currently being addressed. These are: artwork on Smart Playlists displaying as gear icons; songs being played in iTunes Radio showing up in Smart Playlists instead; elements rendering incorrectly when space when flipping through My Music & Playlists; and incorrect total count of songs when there is video content.
As for the features, the iOS 8.4 beta 2 includes preview of the all-new Music app said to sport a new design and interface. Personalization and playist navigation are said to be easier. The iTunes Radio Trending Search function allows users to see trends globally.
In the MiniPlayer, music played and playback controls can now be while browsing the music collection. Users can now also begin wirelessly streaming their music using AirPlay without leaving the Now Playing screen. An improved Global Search function is included as well, where users can now search from anywhere in the Music app.
The iOS 8.4 beta 2 is the next step in finalizing the iOS 8.4, which is seen as the last update before the iOS 9 comes. The iOS 9, in turn, is expected to be formally announced or launched during Apple's upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
