Star Wars: Battlefront will come complete with 12 multiplayer maps right from day one

By

The upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront surely looks like it aims to please with its 12 different multiplayer maps already available for handling combat right from the very start. The announcement made by the game's developer, DICE, alluded to the number 12 being the total number of multiplayer maps in the game, but they stopped short of actually naming each one.

Instead the developer confirmed three of the 12 maps for the game, and those are places familar to fans of the franchise such as Endor and Hoth, with a third that may be a little less known in Sullust, according to Gamespot.

Sullust has been previously mentioned in the Star Wars universe, but this will mark the first time the planet is fully realized, according to Polygon. Since Sullust was also a bit of a blank slate for the developers to design, they had to travel all the way to Iceland to come up with ideas for what the planet would ultimately look like.

As fans may expect from a planet inspired by the somewhat unnatural landscape of Iceland, Sullust is expected to be home to plenty of volcanic activity, snow-strewn landscapes, and dark rocks set along a white yet barren landscape.

It sounds perfect for multiplayer.

As for what fans may expect in terms of native folks from Sullust who may appear in the game, the only previous instance that a native from the planet appeared in a film for the franchise was in Return of the Jedi. In the film, a native Sullustan helps Lando Calrissian fly the Millennium Falcon, and that's about it, according to PC Gamer.

No word yet on what the other nine multiplayer maps will be, but they are said to be coming in different shapes and sizes. Each map will also be designed a specific way, with some encouraging close quarters combat and others capable of supporting the 40 player Walker Assault mode.

Star Wars: Battlefront will be released on November 17 for the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
