Persona 5's Japanese website went live this weekend, showcasing the first batch of high resolution images for the highly anticipated videogame slated for release on PS3 and PS4 gaming consoles this year.
The Japanese role-playing game revolves around a protagonist living the dull life of a normal high school student who eventually gains the ability to summon different Personas. Rumors of Persona 5 development have been in the gaming circuit since 2009. After seven years of waiting, fans are ready to pounce on new Persona material that comes out this year. Surely a release date is not far behind.
Persona 5 producer and director Katsura Hashino details the protagonist's personality in an interview Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. According to Hashino, while his protagonist appears to be the quiet, sullen type as depicted in the game's trailer, his Persona portrays stealth and cat-like agility, similar to the shape-shifting cat character who plays a major part in the progression of the story. The story revolves around the friends and schoolmates turned thieves when the sun goes down, and the many encounters they have along the way. The characters are homeless, according to Hashino, and live off the streets to survive.
Persona 5 is visually stunning, with the game's graphics leaning heavily towards the classic Japanese anime-style representation. Game developer Atlus have a definite incline to sticking with symbolizing the significant distinctiveness of the Japanese culture. The beautifully crafted graphics are moving, playable anime characters straight out of publications of modern day Japanese anime. The still shots are highly entrancing animations, the cut scenes look to be more than entertaining, and the gameplay seems smooth as silk.
Persona 5 is yet to be slated for an official release date. The much anticipated Atlas game will soon be available on PS4 and PS3 gaming consoles.
