The anticipation for the Moto X 3rd Gen 2015 is getting higher and higher every day.
The previous iteration is now being offered at discounted prices, starting at roughly US$50 or probably more, which could be taken as a sign that the Motorola X 3rd Gen 2015 is soon on its way to the stores.
Of course, this could also mean that Motorola is trying to compete with other competitively-priced smartphones with similar specs to the 2nd Gen.
No less than Motorola Mobility president and CEO Rick Osterloh confirmed that the next iteration of the Moto X is coming in and releasing in the market about four months' time.
As for the release of the Moto X 3rd Gen 2015, Osterloh confirmed the details in a tweet response to a question, which is part of the #AskRickO initiative.
"Motorola will stay on a roughly annual cycle for all our products, including Moto X," the Moto exec said.
With the Moto X 1st Gen released in August 2013, and the Second Gen launched in September the following year, then that puts the release of the Moto X 3rd Gen 2015 at about the same time of the year this year.
Osterloh also spoke about some of the things that can be expected of the upcoming device.
The company head mentioned previously during the MWC in Barcelona that the Moto X 2015 will not come with a fingerprint scanner, which he believes are unreliable. With Lenovo's American mobile device subsidiary's 2011 experience with the Atrix, it is doubtful the company will ever include one again in any of their offerings.
He also mentioned what chipset the Moto X 3rd Gen 2015 is going to have.
"Motorola Mobility and Qualcomm have a long history of cooperating to create amazing mobile experiences. The Snapdragon 810 processor will enable us to push the boundaries even further so we can continue delighting our customers with devices that give them new choices," Osterloh said.
But with the Snapdragon 815 already available, and the Snapdragon 820 already official, it is possible that Motorola Mobility might opt for this chipset in the future for its flagship unit.
Meanwhile,
Until now, Motorola has been mum on the exact specifications that the upcoming phone is going to have. It is safe to assume, though, that such specs of Moto X 3rd Gen 2015 will be good enough to go head-to-head with power phones already out like the Apple iPhone 6S and the LG G4, as well as with the upcoming Sony Xperia Z4.
