The roll-out for the Android 5.1.1 update has begun OTA for many smart phones like Samsung. Now it's Nexus turn to have the Android update for their smart phones. According to a report by Android Police, Nexus 10 was the first Nexus device to receive the Android 5.1.1 OTA update via build number LMY4V. This leaves the Nexus 9 to be waiting for its turn to receive the update.
The Nexus 10 OTA update weighs about 13.9 MB. The update is said to bring a number of performance and stability improvements. It will also come with useful bug fixes. The bug fix update is concerned with resolving the issues with its Nvidia's 64-bit Denver CPU cores.
This would lead to the conclusion that Nexus 9 would be the last 64-bit device who would receive the update. Although, it has been confirmed by Sascha Pruter, Android Engineering Program Manager (via Google+) that the Nexus 9 OTA updates is currently undergoing beta testing in order to fix bugs before it will be released officially. There are no confirmations rather whether the OS update will come with together with the LTE update.
With the roll-out for Nexus 10 last week, there had been many reviews regarding the efficiency and performance of their device after the update. There had been feedbacks that there Nexus phones had suffered from lags and other issues although, it has not been confirmed whether the cause of these problems is indeed the Android update.
Considering the outstanding performance of the smart phone, the Android 5.1.1 OTA update will certainly bring Nexus a notch higher as compared to its competitors. The support from the update and the improvement in the performance of the smart phone will certainly prove that Nexus as a smart phone is indeed one of the best in the market. And it won't take long before the Nexus 9 will have its turn in the mobile update.
