Tom Hardy isn't exactly thrilled that he is no longer a part of DC Entertainment's Suicide Squad. To mend it off Hardy now has his sights on another comic book character, this time around on the opposite side of the fence via Marvel Comics' The Punisher.
The 37-year-old actor in a recent interview with Collider kidding or not jested that he wants one of Marvel Studios properties, "I want the Punisher...I want the Punisher".
Marvel Studios has confirmed in 2010 that they have bought the rights back to The Punisher. Hardy despite his 5'9 inch frame will without doubt be a threatening figure in a black fitting shirt emblazoned with a white skull and brandishing a submachine gun. The Punisher has had three incarnations in the big screen all of which were commercial and critical failures.
The actor added that the main reason why he was no longer playing Rick Flag in 'Suicide Squad' was because of the swamped timetable he had on his upcoming western thriller, 'The Revenant' which also stars Leonardo Dicaprio.
"I've missed out on that foray, which is because Alejandro [G. Inarritu] has overshot by three months in Calgary, so we've got to go back out to Patagonia or Alaska to continue shooting The Revenant which has turned into a much bigger beast than we thought, but that also looks exceptional," Hardy made it clear again as he calls Warner Bros. his home studio.
Hardy is also tied in Ubisoft and 20th Century Fox's film adaptation of Splinter Cell were he will take the titular role of Nay Seal operative Sam Fisher. Hardy in 2009, earned himself a British Independent Film Award for Best Actor for his visceral portrayal of a crazed British prisoner in 'Bronson'. Moreover, the actor is set to be seen on theaters as he portrays the latest incarnation of 'The Road Warrior' in Mad Max: Fury Road in May 15, 2015.
Hardy is being managed by Lindy King under United Agents UK.
