True Detective season 2 is a month and a few days away, as its premiere is set on June 21 on HBO. One thing fans should understand is that this season will take on some changes that will set it apart from the first. This is quite evident even with the different cast as well.
The said TV series recently had motion posters released care of HBO. From what was displayed, it appears as though highways and death are key elements in Nic Pizzolato's work.
Design&Trend takes a closer look at these posters which were retrieved from of official social media pages of True Detective. There were variations in the angles of the same LA highways across three posters, and all of which have a similar tagline.
The suggested theme of the crime series might have to do with the message, "we get the world we deserve." In one of the posters, the background of the said phrase was an image of the California streets underneath a tunnel, and above a network of motorways. As reiterated in several reports, this season's plot will have much to do with transportation.
The main characters would take on an investigation of a murder case involving the West Coast motorway development. Vince Vaughn, who is a career criminal, is accompanied by three cops, played by Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch as they take on this endeavor.
McAdams' character, Ani Bezzerides, becomes involved in this case when she learns a personal connection with one of the victims.
On a side note, it should be mentioned that no homage or adaptation is used for this season, unlike in the first when there were cultural references to Friedrick Nietzche's flat circle as well as the Yellow King. Pizzolato even denies rumors, as he said to Wall Street Journal, that any work of A.I Bezzerides will have any contribution.
With this in mind, the poster teasers released were not merely displays, but they might be sending a certain message. The tunnel area shows a bird nibbling on a figure that may very well be a human body.
Despite the changes happening with True Detective season 2, it still carries a lot of potential to become a hit TV crime series. Fans should hope to get a glimpse of another trailer before it finally premieres come June 21.
