Flawless Android 5.1.1 updates for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Nexus 7 Wi-Fi 2013 are now available. The Lollipop upgrade for Galaxy S6 Edge will bring the Guest Mode and Kids Mode. So far, the Android 5.1.1 update for the Nexus 7 Wi-Fi 2013 is running smoothly.

Android 5.1.1 update for Nexus 7 Wi-Fi 2013 rolling out

The Android 5.1.1 OTA update for the Nexus 7 Wi-Fi device is now available in order to fix issues and bugs found in the previous Android 5.1 firmware. The update is done phases and will only hit Nexus 7 tablets running stock firmware.

The 5.1.1 upgrade for the 2013 Nexus 7 goes out with the build code LMY47V and will be available only for those devices that run Android 5.1 LMY470.

The latest Android 5.1.1 will bring bug fixes for camera, security, memory management, notifications, and changes and improvements for the overall system, resulting to a "flawless" Lollipop experience.

Android 5.1.1 update for 2013 Nexus 7 Wi-Fi review

As per review of the Android 5.1.1 on 2013 Nexus 7 Wi-Fi, the performance in the following areas are as follows:

  • Apps: Things are reportedly running smoothly on apps such as Netflix, Gmail, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Battery Life: The Lollipop upgrade did not drain the device quickly, charges quickly, and can enter and exit standby at the right time.
  • Wi-Fi & Bluetooth: The Wi-Fi connection is said to be solid as of this writing, whether using a home connection throughout the house and various floors. Connecting to a personal hotspot is also easy and reliable, including the Bluetooth connection.
  • Bugs & Issues: Currently, there were no bugs found, crashing apps, or random reboots.
  • Speed: The Android 5.1.1 is said to be "snappy" such as fast opening on apps and "fluid and easy" app switching.

It also seems that Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is about to receive the latest Android 5.1.1 update as a certain XDA Developer member, named Sunderwear, claims that his device received the Lollipop upgrade via T-Mobile. Eduardo Mera, aka Sunderwear, showed a video of his Galaxy S6 Edge running the Android 5.1.1 update, stating that the device became snappier and notably much improved.

Further, the update also brought back the Guest Mode, which allows multiple users to access the same device or tablet but will limit the personal data stored. A Kids Mode that will provide safety in case the device falls would also be included.
