No Stopping Project CARS' 7 May Launch; Positive Reviews Seen as New Launch Trailer Arrives

By

Looks like there's no stopping Project CARS' arrival.

Game developer Slightly Mad Studios released a launch trailer which highlights the game's environments, cars, and track to the tune of the Deadmau5 song "My Pet Coelacanth."

Project CARS has over 100 tracks, dynamic weather and time of day, gameplay running at 60 frames per second, and many social and multiplayer features.

Some noted that there is a lower number of cars available in Project CARS -- around 75 compared to the 200+ in Forza Motorsport 5. However, the game makes up for the wide variety of race types, car types, and racing conditions giving it a good replay value.

With positive reviews coming in, the wait just got a wee bit excruciating.

"Project CARS really shines. The engine that Slightly Mad has built is impressive, from the interior detail on all 60 or so cars to the environmental design on every single one of its many varied circuits across the globe," PC Gamer's Sam White said in his review.

"Project CARS has given me a real challenge from get-go. This is an unforgiving, tough racer that requires patience and skill, especially if you're using a gamepad. You can't just sling your car into the apex and hope to drift out the other side unscathed. CARS is about learning each discipline individually-studying it, mastering it... It's crystal clear that Slightly Mad knows what its hardcore audience wants, and I'm really happy that it stuck to its guns in order to deliver it," he added.

The upcoming motorsport simulation video game will be released in Europe and Australia first on 7 May, followed by UK on 8 May, and North America on 12 May. It took more than four years to develop, with its release date delayed three times.

"After months of intense work on what will certainly be the ultimate racing experience, we're extremely happy to confirm that Project CARS has now gone gold and will be releasing starting May 7th. We know the wait of the game has been long but we're confident the quality and realism level we have achieved will provide our fans with the game they have all been expecting and we look forward to seeing you on the track." said Slightly Mad Studios head Ian Bell.

Project CARS is distributed by Bandai Namco for Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The Wii U and StreamOS/Linux will also get the game at a later date.
