Ink Master is back! The hit Spike reality series, featuring tattoo artists competing to see who's the strongest tattoo artist, has been renewed for a seventh season, and Spike has begun casting for the upcoming round of tattoo competitions. Via a new website, Spike has put out a casting call- both for the tattoo artists who'll be competing on the show, and the participants (the show calls them "human canvases," which sounds a little gross).
For tattoo artists, Spike requires them to name their primary art style for tattooing and the number of years they have worked in the tattoo industry. Contestants also need to upload images of themself and of tattoos they have worked on in the past.
Those who want to be tattooed in an episode of Ink Master have a similar application to fill out- but from those applications, we can figure out what the next season of ink Master will look like. Potential canvases have to answer similar questions- do they have tattoos, what kind of tattoo would they like, how long was their longest tattoo, how painful was their most painful tatto- stuff meant to gauge how they'd stack up in a potential tattoo competition.
As well, three specific questions point to specific challenges the contestants will see on the next season of Ink Master.
"Have you ever wanted the shock value of a horrific or biomechanical-style tattoo?"
"Do you want to get a portrait to memorialize a loved one or to pay homage to your heritage?"
"Is there a daring area that you have always wanted to have tattooed?"
Presumably, we'll be seeing challenges involving horrific biomechanical tattoos, portraits of loved ones and of heritage, and tattoos given to freaky areas on the body. Last season, Ink Master became Ink Master Rivals, which saw tattoo artists with grudges compete against their biggest rivals. Ink Master might come up with a similar gimmick for this season. Look for the show to premiere its seventh season on Spike this fall.
