DC fans also deserve a lot of movies being made about their favorite group of superheroes, and it looks as though the current DC roster may soon be getting a new addition in the form of Hawkman.
Speculation regarding the possible existence and perhaps looming debut of Hawkman began when a set photo for the film Suicide Squad appeared to show a cop car with the words "Midway City Police" set in large typeface on its side.
This is a significant bit of information, because it just so happens that Midway City is home to none other than the otherworldly Hawkman, according to Cinema Blend.
Hawkman is one of the more mysterious characters of the DC universe. He is also a part of both the Justice League and the Justice Society, and is also considered as one of the oldest members of the DC universe, according to Comic Book.
He came from another world together with another superhero, named Hawkgirl, and after first arriving to help apprehend some criminals, the pair decided to stick around Midway City. Hawkman and Hawkgirl are also known as Carter and Shiera Hall, respectively, because no respectable superhero is without a secret identity.
Not to put a damper on things, but it is worth noting that Hawkman and Hawkgirl haven't exactly been confirmed for Suicide Squad, so as exciting as the thought may be, it is still just pure speculation at this point. Midway City is home not only to the heroic duo, as the group known as the Doom Patrol also resides within this fair city, according to Movie Pilot.
Regardless of whether or not any of these characters will actually make an appearance in Suicide Squad, what is obvious is that DC is trying to expand its universe just as Marvel has done. Even if these characters don't debut in this movie, the mere fact that their home is acknowledged to exist within the cinematic DC universe makes it easier for them to appear at some point down the road.
Even if they don't show up, fans will still have Jared Leto's Joker, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, and a cast of other interesting characters to look forward to when Suicide Squad is released.
