The Until Dawn video game has been fairly conservative with its updates these past few months. However, a lot of information on the game has already been divulged, giving the avid gamer a good idea about what to expect from the title.
Certain gameplay aspects have been teased during the start of the year by Supermassive Games' Jez Harris. Design&Trend relays the news from the official PS Blog, where Harris enumerates five elements which will make the horror game of quality.
First off, players should expect that Until Dawn will deliver a lot of surprise. This will make it reminiscent to watching the horror film, when the setting seems familiar, but something unexpected suddenly happens. An example would be the part when several teenagers arrive at their seemingly abandoned cabin, not knowing that there is a merciless killer that has been expecting them.
Another thing that Harris wants to deliver in Until Dawn would be that of veering from certain clichés of horror productions. While jump scares are a classic in giving a fright to its viewers, the Supermassive Games title aims to dwell more on what the unknown can create to knock players off their socks.
One of the interesting details revealed about the game is the possibility of having a multiplayer mode. As with being in a terrifying scenario, the experience would be more intense and challenging if friends are also around. In relation to this, previous press conferences by Supermassive Games hinted that Until Dawn's multiplayer mode could use the single DualShock 4 controller among friends.
Gamepur takes particular interest in Until Dawn, mentioning it in an article as one of the top 11 upcoming IPs this 2015 which gamers should not miss. The said website also shows a demo featuring Hayden Panettiere.
Until Dawn is scheduled to launch on PS4 this coming summer. However, the game is going through hurdles with its development, making necessary revisions both in the story and the gameplay to finally come up with the soundest output. Players should hope that the game will only be worth the wait.
