The Chinese smart phone manufacturer, OnePlus has been breaking the internet with its back to back issues: Parting with Cyanogen and Bug Issues. With this in mind, it is imperative for Cyanogen to address the issue. Now, the Cyanogen team resumes its OTA roll-out for the OnePlus One smart phones, The OTA update had a new build - YNG1TAS17L which fixes the issues of the previous update and adds an Ok OnePlus Voice Command feature.
Steve Kondik, the chief technical officer at Cyanogen had confirmed that the OTA update was suspended temporarily due to bugs and errors in the voice wake up feature. In the report released, Cyanogen had announced that they are now rolling out the new bugfixed update to users who already updated to CM12. Several bug fixes had been revolving around the network though. However, a rooted version of the firmware was built by a Senior XDA member, CraZY_Boy^. He built a rooted and cleaned ROM and added small mods based on Cyanogen OS 12 YNG1TAS17L for OnePlus One ready for download.
The new stock OTA build which brings the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop was confirmed by members of the OnePlus Forum. The updates were said to provide longer battery life and security enhancements. The voice command feature also is good with regards to power usage since it does not drain the phone's battery. Although, there were comments that had claimed that there are problems with regards to accuracy but the feature registers quickly once it starts to listen.
For those who had already installed the new Cyanogen OS 12 firmware, here is how to activate the Ok OnePlus Voice Command feature.
1. Open the Settings in the Menu.
2. From the selection, choose Language and Input.
3. Select the Voice Wake Up.
4. Practice using the feature by saying OK OnePlus.
As the roll-out for the CM12 has already resumed, OnePlus may need to decide whether to stay with Cyanogen for their OnePlus One or have the users switch to OxygenOS. However, let us not forget that the current OTA update has brought a OK OnePlus voice command feature, which made the OnePlus One an inch closer to Apple's very own Siri.
