Project CARS finally races off to shelves and gamers are generally happy on the level of graphical detail this ultra-realistic racing simulator brings. However, like every other game, glitches, problems and bugs will plague gamers getting early copies. Slightly Mad Studios stresses the importance of first day patches and online support.
Game Glitches, Bugs and Possible Fixes
Most of these Project CARS fixes came from Gamingbolt, however the gaming site issues a disclaimer that their fixes are not official and advices people to get online support. The game site continues that they are not responsible for any problems that may result from following these tips, however they say that gamers who have followed it was successful in resolving the problem.
1. Game Stuttering on PC
According to Gamingbolt, gamers experiencing game stuttering may be caused by incompatible gaming rigs. Graphics card may also need updating or upgrading, however if immediate upgrade is not an option, one can disable "motion blur," and "detailed grass." Project Cars website offers a list of gaming hardware that are compatible with the game.
2. Crashing on Start-up
Some PC users report the game crashing from start-up. One can verify the steam cache files and restart the game. This may also be caused by outdated drivers or an incompatibility with graphics cards.
3. Unhandled Exception Errors
Gamingbolt issues a workaround but reminds gamers to back-ups files before editing or changing them. The fix involves adding -dx9 -x86 in the command line using launch options on Steam.
However, not all problems can be resolved by simple troubleshooting. One of these problems that affect not only PC but console versions as well are AI behavior, Camera blurring issues, which shows hands on the steering wheel blurring as well and noticeable slowing during rains. However, Slightly Mad Studios assure fans that patches will quickly fix these game design problems.
Project CARS developer, Slightly Mad Studios stresses the importance of the Day One patch and online support. The game developer said through thegamescabin,
"It's entirely possible that this is a geniune bug though - so was the capture from a video or from a shop running the game? If it's from a shop it's worth checking if the game has the D1P patch applied since it may already have been fixed."
The studio is adamant that they will provide all the support gamers need to handle the initial problems they will encounter. However, despite this first date jitters, many are truly impressed by the graphical beauty of Project CARS.
