Nintendo Teams Up With Universal Parks & Resorts to Bring Mario and Cohorts in Universal Theme Parks

If children are too weary seeing Disneyland whenever there's a gaiety, then this must be a novelty as the Japanese consumer electronics company Nintendo has partnered with Universal Parks & Resorts to bring its games and characters to Universal Theme Parks. The said partnership was announced on Thursday that will debut the dedicated experiences based on the Japanese company's popular games, characters, and worlds.

According to the shared press release, the project must be comprehensive and massive as it detailed: "The immersive experiences will include major attractions at Universal's theme parks and will feature Nintendo's most famous characters and games." To make it clear, this will not be a new theme park owned by Nintendo, Kotaku reports. But rather, Universal Theme Parks will designate a section or a gate on their locations intended only for Nintendo's famous characters and games. In other words, it is a Nintendo-themed attraction in Universal parks.

This news comes after Nintendo announced its big earnings. It has made 24.8 billion yen ($250 million) compared with a loss of $472 million last year. As much as this is thrilling, no further plans have been announced by the two giant companies.

Nintendo is a pioneer in the creation of interactive entertainment. Likewise, the Japanese company is behind the gaming products and its software such as Wii UTM and WiiTM home consoles, and also Nintendo 3DSTM and Nintendo DSTM. Similarly, it is known for the famous household characters in the video games including MarioTM, PokémonTM, Donkey KongTM, MetroidTM, and ZeldaTM.

On the other hand, Universal Parks & Resorts is a unit of Comcast NBCUniversal. It offers today's popular entertainment experiences. It currently has parks in Los Angeles, Orlando, Singapore and Japan. To expand its breadth, it's currently gearing up with new projects announced for South Korea, Dubai, Moscow and Beijing. Since this looks like a massive project, it might only be limited to Universal parks with enough lands. However, no official word yet has released on what parks will be getting this new treatment.
