The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt release date is set on May 19. CD Projekt Red's most successful franchise will again hit the PS4, Xbox one and PC, however recent screenshots show some graphical issues. It seemed that The Witcher 3 will be somewhat visually inferior compared to prior releases.
The issue came when sites like Gamepur have put side-by-side image comparisons of locations showed on the Witcher 3 and with the Witcher 2. The site points out lesser detailed environments and atmosphere compared to previous titles in the Witcher series. This made headlines over the net and many have come up with different conclusions including rumors that CD Projekt Red is sacrificing graphics to ensure the game will be playable universally.
However, CD Projekt Red supplied various explanations to this. Addressing earlier comparisons of trailers posted on YouTube, the game developer cited "video compression" as the culprit for "downgrading" the graphical quality of the game. However, another batch of screenshots appeared recently and once again placed the game under speculations that the game's graphics will be inferior compared to earlier titles of the franchise.
Marcin Momot, CD Projekt Red community manager said in response to downgrade speculations, as posted on Worldsfactory,
"Please keep in mind that the game is still in production phase. Certain things are still being worked on. The final version of the game will look better than what can be seen in the latest screenshots - no matter the platform."
The "downgrade" issue was easily accepted by people because of CD Projekt Red's promise that the game will not be hardware intensive like other triple A games released and to be released this year. Logically, a game using less hardware would indeed have lesser graphics compared to games that are hardware intensive. Momot continued on saying that,
"The most important thing here is that the game will come out looking gorgeous when we are done working on it. There will be no downgrade."
No matter how many speculations come, it is clear the many gamers are looking forward to this game. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt release date is on May 19 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
