Great news for Minecraft fans. Players of this epic video game on Xbox 360 and Xbox One will get to enjoy Minecraft Free Skins in celebration of its birthday this month.
May 9 marked Minecraft's third birthday and as a special treat for game fans, three content packs are now available for free download until May 17. The game's developer, Mojang, prepared a brand new bundle for the game's fans which features "veteran Mojangstas", that resembles the members of the Minecraft team, along with an addition of a "few cheeky extras" to the new pack. Other items being given away are the second birthday pack from last year and the first birthday pack from Minecraft's first birthday.
Minecraft players using Xbox 360 may already own the older packs but this is the first time that the other bundles have been made available on Xbox One. Players using this console will finally get to see cool and lovable characters such as Master Chief, Banjo and Kazooie, Conker, and even Horstacio from "Viva Piñata".
On September of last year, Microsoft acquired Mojang - the Swedish based developer that's behind the hugely popular game Minecraft for $2.5 billion. Since then it has been business as usual with recent additions to the Minecraft character list such as The Simpsons and a new female character named Alex. Last month, Mojang's Owen Hill wrote on the developer's official blog that the female skin Alex was added in order to represent the diversity of the game's playerbase.
Aside from celebrating the game's third birthday this month, Mojang has also revealed that Minecraft for Xbox 360 has sold over 20 million copies since it was made available in May 2012. That number is a huge jump from recently recorded sale figures of 12 million copies. The game's success is also attributed to the Scottish developer 4J Studios, in bringing this epic game to the Xbox console.
Gamers all over the world can now greet Minecraft a "Happy Birthday" and in celebrating this momentous occasion by firing up their Xbox consoles, loading the game and downloading Minecraft Free Skins today.
