‘The Young and the Restless’ News: Chuck Pratt Jr. and Jill Farren Phelps Tease Exciting Details on the Fake Jack Storyline

"The Young and the Restless" is gearing up for more exciting episodes, as the CBS daytime soap recently introduced the fake Jack storyline. Executive producers Chuck Pratt Jr. and Jill Farren Phelps dished out exciting details about the fake Jack storyline.

"Young and Restless" recently took on a surprising twist, as the show introduced the appearance of a fake Jack in Genoa City. As the real Jack Abbott remains under Kelly's captivity, the fake Jack is bound to cause trouble for the rest of the characters in the show, as he teams up with the villainous Victor.

"Jack was becoming little more than the happy-go-lucky businessman all the women wanted to sleep with, and the show wasn't using him much. And Victor was becoming a caricature," Pratt told TV Insider.

Pratt revealed that the Jack Abbott doppelganger storyline was an important addition to the story, as its actors, Peter Bergman and Eric Braeden "need to be challenged with a big, strong story." He also hinted that the fake Jack storyline is an "umbrella story" that could come back on the series once again as long as one of the characters do not get killed off.

Phelps admitted that she felt fearful when Pratt brought up the doppelganger storyline during the first story meeting, especially because she has never done a series with that kind of twist. Phelps shared Peter Bergman's sentiments on doing simultaneous roles in Y&R as the real and fake Jack.

"We ask a lot of an audience when we do these types of stories, and it takes very clever people to make it successful. I didn't know if I was clever enough," Bergman told the outlet.

As seen on the latest episode of "Young and the Restless," the fake Jack has recently woken up from his deep slumber following the accident and could not remember anything from his past. Fake Jack is also rumored to develop feelings for Ashley and the latter will use it to her advantage against Victor.

"The Young and the Restless" airs Monday to Friday on CBS.
