Fans can now mark down June 23 on their calendars as the date that the Special Edition of Devil May Cry 4 is finally released. The June 23 release is applicable to both Europe and North America.

Details about the title have been coming out in recent months, sparking excitement all over the world for fans who have been following the franchise since its early days. For this upcoming release, players will be given the option to choose from five different characters.

Dante and Nero will be playable options again, just as they were for the original version of the game, but now players can also opt to choose Lady, Trish, and Virgil in the game. Of particular interest is Virgil, he will be bringing in a new style of fighting to the game that is a mixture of the fighting styles he has previously showcased in his earlier appearances in the series, according to Gamespot.

The two fighting styles used as inspiration for Virgil's new revamped one are from Devil May Cry 3 and DmC: Devil May Cry. Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition will also be getting a new mode, known as Legendary Dark Knight, according to Eurogamer. The new game mode basically fills the map with more enemies than usual, adding a significant layer of difficulty to a game predicated on instantaneous action.

Legendary Dark Knight mode was already available in the PC version of Devil May Cry 4, so it will only be making its console debut. All the new characters, along with the new game mode are exhibited in the gameplay trailer recently released for the game, according to iDigital Times.

New costumes for the characters will also be included in the special edition of the game. Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition will be available for $24.99. Fans who choose to pre-order the game can also receive additional costumes for both Lady and Trish.
